REFLECTION

Experience: Throughout this semester, I had engage in assignments that deepened my understanding of typography. I have worked with different typefaces, layouts, and compositions, end up even created a font by myself. These practical exercises allowed me to apply the principles and techniques learned in class, improving my skills in typographic design.

Observations: I have noticed the importance of consistency and efficiency in the design process. Learning typographic systems and design principles has helped me create cohesive layouts and visually appealing designs. Additionally, I have observed the significance of attention to detail and the ability to recognize unique shapes and elements within images when extracting letterforms. These observations have emphasized the need for precision and the ability to balance readability with visual appeal in typographic design.

Findings: I have learned the importance of understanding and using typographic systems to create good layouts, to find a balance between readability and visual appeal. Furthermore, I have discovered that typography extends beyond the arrangement of letters on a page. It is an art form that requires creativity, attention to detail, and a long working process. I have also found that finding purpose and meaning behind design work is crucial, as it provides a clear direction for further expansion and development. Finally, I have gained a greater appreciation for the technical aspects of typography, such as consistent x-height, proper kerning, and the impact of font weight and variation on overall aesthetics.
