Task 3: Brand Positioning & Applications

This task is a continuation of previous task, for conceptualising the brand and creating the brand applications that suit the brand identity.

2. Applications

For the applications, I use the mockup template online and edit the designs in Photoshop, below are some samples:

I went through a lot of changes for my applications in progress, like how I place the logo, the size of the texts, layout, etc.  Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1aX5yc1p_96lI0TqTbOzqJeYw76vZbAQ_?usp=sharing

FEEDBACK

Week 7
- individual who have health challenges/having aging family members should be in behavioural segmentation
- psychographic segmentation can be more specific
- behavioural segmentation: digital content creators might not really use the service bc they always record their life
- brand value: cinematic touch and personalisation is USP
- USP: make point forms
- business card and invoices references don't really fit the brand identity, explore more
- business card: rework the pattern
- social media: just the profile and include the collateral in the posts

Week 9
- consider to place the logo in middle
- photo credit traced back to the uploader
- the logo placed at the spine is distorted
- poster adjust the placement of logo

REFLECTION

I acquired the skill of conceptualising a brand by doing this task. Initially, I thought it might be a bit challenging to think of a totally fictional branding, especially considering how memory preservation still hasn't been an innovation in real life (at least from what I am aware of). Therefore, instead of thinking about the technological stuff, I focus on the essence of the brand identity, which is the keyword: nostalgia. I spent some time thinking about who will need this kind of memory preservation service, first is ageing people, but who else? Then I went on social media and realised that there are actually some solid reasons that people might be interested in using this service, like when people go through some important events, they might want to record this memory down and preserve it (for example, weddings, graduation, baby born, etc).

As I thought nostalgia is something that ties in with memory, like how we look at old photos and think about the past, I immediately thought of a business service of memory journal and memory photo printing, which I have applied to the applications (Memory journal and greeting card). While having a physical copy of memory, we will need a digital copy too, which is the USB.

Overall, I think conceptualising a totally fictional brand is quite fun, especially fully understanding the concepts of the brand and exploring the design of applications while having some questions like: what kind of applications will make sense for The Memoir? Will the target customers be interested in them? Why would they relate to The Memoir?
